Dharma Nikethanaya Milano (Italy)
Taking the Buddha's teaching as guidelines for our mission, we started the temple 'Dharma Nikethanaya' in Italy in 2013. Our temple is not merely a physical space; it is a place where we striveto cease doing evil, learn to do good, and purify our minds. It's a place where cultures converge, where languages blend, and where the noble teachings of Buddhism resonate with seekers fromall walks of life.
The core of our mission is the desire to deliver the teachings ofBuddhism in three languages:Italian, English, and Singhala. We believe that this multi-lingual approach helps us to reach a wideraudience, ensuring that the wisdom of the Buddha is accessible to all who seek it. We serve as abeacon of enlightenment, offering guidance in Buddhist values and knowledge. Our templebecomes a sanctuary where individuals can deepen their spiritual journey and find solace in theteachings of the Buddha.
Throughout the year, we commemorate important Sri Lankan cultural and national festivals andevents, such as Vesak, Poson, and Katina ceremonies. These celebrations not only serve asreminders of our cultural and religious roots, but also as occasions for unity and shared joy.In our"Sucharitha Dhamma School," we equip 125 SriLankan children born in Italy with essentialknowledge of the Dhamma (doctrine) and the Sinhala language. It is our hope that they grow upwith a strong connection to their heritage and spiritual upbringing.
Our commitment to preserving tradition goes beyond the classroom. We organize special events, including traditional dances and processions, that showcase the vibrant culture of Sri Lanka.Meditation is a cornerstone of our practice. Each month, we offer meditation programs for adults, and three times ayear, we guide our children in the meditative journey. These sessions provide apath to inner peace and self-discovery.
Recognizing the challenges of everyday life, we extend a hand of support through counselingservices helping people to navigate life'scomplexities.Additionally, we host seminars and activitiesin schools promoting Buddhism and cross-cultural understanding and respect.Moreoveroccasionally monks from our temple visit the prisoners and conduct meditation programs alongwith Buddhist counseling services. In conclusion, Dharma Nikethanaya is more than a temple; it'sa vibrant hub of spirituality, culture, and education bridging two worlds. We welcome you to ourtemple in Milan.
