The Buddhist Union of Finland is national umbrella organization established in May 2009.


The Union was established to act as a co-operation organisation for Buddhist groups in Finland. The union aims to help forward and uphold Buddhist values and practising Buddhism in Finland as well as advance tolerance and co-operation between worldviews.

The Buddhist Union of Finland represents its member organisations equally in relations to government, scientists and national as well as international organisations. The Union aims to make Buddhism better known in Finnish society and pursues to remove inequality in order to make practising of Buddhism easier.

The Union pursues to influence different sectors of society so that the needs of Buddhist would be considered especially in schools and health care.
