The Swiss Buddhist Union (SBU/USB), founded in 1978, is an umbrella organisation of Buddhist Communities and Buddhists in Switzerland. It has been a long-term member of EBU.


At present SBU/USB comprises 37 member organisations from various Buddhist traditions and over 100 individual members.

The administrative council consists of 7 members and a guest.

The main activities of the union are: organisation of central Vesakh Celebrations in May, Annual General Meeting in November, information on Buddhist activiities in Switzerland, Europe and the Buddhist World at large. Information centre on rituals like birth, wedding, burial. Support for patients in hospitals, caring for the dying.
