A Milestone for Buddhist Chaplaincy in Europe
First graduates begin compassionate service
On March 8, the first course for Buddhist chaplains of the European Buddhist Union, organized in collaboration with Dharma Gate University, came to an end.
Dario Doshin Girolami, the creator and instructor of the course, together with tutor Kirsten De Leo, awarded diplomas to twenty-one students from across Europe at the conclusion of the two-year program. Prisons, hospitals, and hospices are the places where the new chaplains will serve.
The event was followed by a visit from Stefano Bettera, President of the European Buddhist Union, to Dharma Gate University. A second course, set to begin in 2027, is already in planning.
A pioneering initiative, a milestone for the social engagement of Buddhism throughout Europe.
