Dear friends,
the European Buddhist Union is deeply concerned and saddened about the war in Ukraine. We hope the hostilities will end soon and a peaceful solution for the crisis is found. War affects all of us in a harmful way and especially in this century it is our duty to become one family on this planet, mutually supporting and respecting each other. Diplomatic dialogue, wisdom and compassion must prevail over weapons and aggression.
The European Buddhist Union appeals to all its members and supporters to organize a special meditation and prayer session in their countries, temples and centers to promote a feeling of peace, togetherness and awareness, on every Friday, from 21:00 to 22:00 CET until the war is finally over (everybody will do it on their own, we will all be connected through the practice).
A unified moment of practice in light of the present crisis will be most important to alleviate the suffering in us and others and so that wars, like the one against Ukraine, do not occur. This beautiful world should not be tainted by blood, but rather adorned with the flower of love, which is the correct duty of human beings.
